The Talkatone app allows you to make and receive calls and texts without having to use your minutes. The app connects via WiFi or through data (which you may be charged for) and can be used on a mobile device or tablet. Though the app, you get your own personal and local phone number, and unlike some other apps out there, there is no need for the person you’re calling to have the app. You can even call landlines. Since the app runs through WiFi, it can be used internationally. The sound quality is better than most, but the app glitches at times and must be shut down. All incoming calls and texts are free, and the rate for outgoing calls is beyond fair. (And come on people, text your friend and ask them to call you)!
